Alternative Investment Analytics, LLC (AIA) specializes in product creation, advisory, and consulting services for institutional clients. It is particularly well-known for its ability to bring research-driven insights and structured methodologies to management of alternative investment products, especially in areas of hedge funds, CTA’s, commodities, as well as structured products related to those assets. Its principals are all highly regarded academics and researchers, who have notable academic relationships, including those at the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets (CISDM) at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Principals
Hossein Kazemi, Ph.D., CFA is a Managing Director at Alternative Investment Analytics, LLC. He is also Professor of Finance at the University of Massachusetts and is the Associate Director of Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets at the School of Management. He is on the Curriculum and Examinations Committee of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, and M.A. from Eastern Michigan University, and a B.A. from the NIOC.
George Martin is Managing Director at Alternative Investment Analytics, LLC. He is also an Associate Director of the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets (CISDM) at the University of Massachusetts; a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Alternative Investments; and a member of the Advisory Board of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. Previously, he was Research Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He is the author of numerous publications in the area of alternative investments, and is frequently called upon to address audiences on the subject of alternative investments. He received a B.A. and M.A. from the Johns Hopkins University.
Thomas Schneeweis, Ph.D. is President of Alternative Investment Analytics, LLC. He is the Michael and Cheryl Philipp Professor of Finance at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts and founding Director of the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets (CISDM) at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. He is a founding Board Member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. He is also the founding Editor of the Journal of Alternative Investments. He has served in various Board positions at both the Managed Funds Association and the Alternative Investment Management Association. He is also an outside trustee of The Managers Funds, a family of multi-manager mutual funds. He was on the advisory board for the Dow Jones - AIG Commodity Index, as well as holding a similar position at the London Metals Exchange. He has published widely in academic and practitioner journals in the areas of traditional and alternative investment, has been quoted in most major financial publications, and has provided commentary on various US, Europe, and Asian financial news programs. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, and a B.A. from St. John's University.

Richard Spurgin, Ph.D., is Managing Director at Alternative Investment Analytics, LLC. He has been Associate Professor of Finance at Clark University since 1995. He is also Associate Director of the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets at the University of Massachusetts. He was previously employed by Technical Data in Boston. As Director of Fixed-Income Research, he was responsible for producing technical and quantitative research on U.S. Treasury and fixed-income markets. He was a founding member of the index committee for the LMEX, a metals index sponsored by the London Metals Exchange (LME). He has a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.A. from Dartmouth.
